They mistake dissention for conflict. They take disagreement personally. Get over it. Running an enterprise is not a democracy; however, it cannot appear as a dictatorship either. One thing is sure, it’s definitely not easy. If it were, anyone could do it and the investors wouldn’t need you. The key to successful dissention is to control it so that everyone gets a say, new ideas are evaluated fully, and no one is ever penalized for disagreeing with the Leader.

One last point about dissention and conflict: never, ever avoid either. When a meeting or event is sure to have a fair amount of dissention and conflict, some Leader’s send a surrogate in their place. They claim not to have the time for such petty issues. Nonsense. That’s what the Leader does. By not getting down in the trenches with your people, you send the message loud and clear that they don’t matter to you as human beings. The most important part of your personal success and that of your cause, accelerates the achievements of those who work for you. Ignoring them, their ideas and their feelings puts your mission in jeopardy.
