I have yet to meet a truly effective Leader who surrounds herself with sycophants. You don’t have all the answers—no Leader does. Moreover, not every idea coming out of your mouth is golden. Amazing, but true, nevertheless. Encourage constructive dissention. Embrace it as the creative mill it is. Encourage your people to disagree and pick apart an idea or a business strategy. If it can’t stand up to this scrutiny, then it wasn’t really the golden idea you had originally thought. You just saved the cause a whole lot of time and money by not planting a tree that would ultimately bear no fruit.
