This leadership style appeals to people’s emotions. Let’s face it; adversity certainly creates an emotional response. Employees fear for their jobs. Lenders worry that their loans may default. Customers are anxious that their critical order may be delayed. Investors wring their hands over a possible drop in the yield of their venture.

Leaders who create the proper emotional response can guarantee that everything else they do will work as well as it possibly can. The wrong moods and actions (or inactions) can poison the emotional climate of the workplace. The leader’s perception of a crisis carries huge weight. It governs the way the entire company perceives events even in the face of chaos.
